Margie A. Austin

Margie Ann Austin, 82 of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020 at CHI, St. Alexius Health, Devils Lake, ND. Margie Ann, daughter of Lloyd and Ann (McCannell) Romberg was born in Grand Forks, ND on March 11, 1938. She grew up in the Inkster area and graduated from Inkster High School with the class of 1956. Margie continued her education at UND in the fall of 1956. In the fall of 1957, she went to Aaker’s Business College in Grand Forks and graduated from their Secretarial Studies. After graduation from Aaker’s she worked at several places and even worked as a waitress after school and in the evenings. Margie was united in marriage to her beloved Floyd J. Austin on October 20, 1962 at St. Timothy’s Church in Manvel, ND. They established their home in Grand Forks until 1966 when they moved to Devils Lake and would call it home. Margie was employed at the Grand Forks County Auditor’s Office. Margie began working as the Deputy Auditor for the city of Devils Lake on February 5, 1968 and retired on July 15, 2008. Margie and Floyd shared a wonderful life together; raising their children, enjoying time at the family farm in the Brocket area and following their grandsons playing hockey with the Minot Wolves. They loved their children with all their hearts and the grandsons were their pride and joy, treasuring every moment spent together as family. Floyd died on October 8, 2014. Margie was a member of the Inkster Presbyterian Church and St. Joseph Catholic Church and the Elks Auxiliary. When Margie had the time she loved to garden and share her produce with family and friends. Our memories of Margie are so very precious and we will keep them close to our hearts forever. Margie is survived by her sons Scott John Austin, Devils Lake, ND, Neil Austin and his wife, Denise of Minot, ND and David Austin also of Devils Lake; grandsons Trever Austin, Matthew Austin and Alex Austin; sister Melva (Clark) Becker of Inkster, ND and several nieces and nephews.
