Mark L. Fassett, 54 of Fort Totten, ND passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 in the loving care of his family.

A Wake will be at the Dakota Baptist Church, Fort Totten on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a time of prayer and remembrance at 7:00 p.m.  The procession to Fort Totten will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday from City Plaza, Devils Lake.

The Funeral for Mark will be on Thursday, March 9, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Dakota Baptist Church with Pastor Paul Young officiating. Burial will be in the spring at St. Jerome’s Cemetery, rural Crow Hill. 

Mark Leslie Fassett was born at Mercy Hospital on December 26,th 1968 . He began his journey to the spirit world on February 28th 2023. He is the 3rd son of the late Diane Woods and Allen Fassett. Mark attended Fort Totten school and Four Winds High School in Fort Totten. In his youth he loved the sport of boxing and had an outstanding amateur record of 107 wins with 11 losses. Mark competed in the National Silver Gloves tournament in 1984. He won both North Dakota state and regional Silver Glove tournaments and went on to box in the national tournament in Davenport, Iowa. He was also an accomplished bull rider in his younger years.

Mark was employed with the Tribal Police Department as a Security Guard, he also worked with the HUD Program for many years and was a heavy equipment operator. He loved to hunt and to cook and was very good at it.

Mark had 10 children, Monte Fassett, Monica Fassett, Maranda St Pierre, LeslieAnn Fassett, Virginia Fassett, Peyton Fassett, Hannah Fassett, Precious McKay, and Waste’ Win’ Fassett. He also had many loving grandchildren. Mark had many friends and family who he loved hanging out with and sharing good times and laughs. He will be greatly missed by family and his many friends.

Mark is survived by his brothers – Robert (Carol) Graywater, Perry Fassett, Sisters - Janelle Fassett, Sherry Larson, Uncle- Nicky Woods, Cousin- Beckie Woods and many nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by Mother Diane Woods, Father Allen Fassett, Uncles Gilbert & George Fassett, Auntie Cheryl Fassett, Brothers Duane McDonald & Troy Woods, his Son Mark & grand-daughter Matisha Lynn Fassett, niece- Lindsey Littlewind & Special Friend Lacosta McKay

Casket Bearers: Terry Dunn, Rob Longie, Tom Longie, Louie Dubois, Sam Mackay, Donavan Robertson, Calen Fassett & Perry Fassett Jr.

Honorary Pall Bearers: Trent Anderson, Stacy Thumb, Richie Greywater, Paul Cavanaugh, Jessie Cavanaugh, Shane Peltier, Troy Woods Jr, Steffen Greywater, Duane Littlewind, Kolby Mckay, Donna Baker, Sherrie St Pierre, the Littlewind family, Mervel McDonald, Tony McDonald, Suzie Rainbow, Terry Herman, Tracy WhiteBuffalo, Derrick Dauphinais, Dean Dauphinais, Pastor Paul Young, Beckie Woods, Barbara Robertson and all friends and family.

Special thanks to the Hospital Staff at Sanford, Hospice nurses, Tribal Health nurses and to all who helped to care for Mark at the end of his life.
