Mark A. Schwab, a lifelong resident of Devils Lake ND passed away unexpectedly on Friday, January 30, 2026, at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, surrounded by his loving family.

Visitation for Mark will be on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary led by the Knights of Columbus and a Scripture Service at 7:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Devils Lake with burial in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery. Fellowship to follow at the Parish Center.

Mark A. Schwab, son of Herman and Joyce (Walden) Schwab was born May 3, 1957, in Devils Lake, ND. He attended school at St. Mary’s Academy and St. Joseph School, Devils Lake.

Mark was employed in the petroleum business for a majority of his career. He worked for Cenex/Farmers Union Oil in Devils Lake for the past 30 years.

Mark was united in marriage to Patricia Eback on October 1, 1976. They established their home in Devils Lake where they lived, worked, and raised their children Heather and Travis.

Mark was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather. Mark enjoyed watching his grandsons grow up and loved watching them play hockey throughout the years.

Mark enjoyed sitting in the driveway with Patty and anyone else who stopped by to shoot the breeze. Mark was also known as “Schwab” by all the neighborhood children that stopped by for Dumdum suckers. Mark also enjoyed he and Patty’s weekly trips to the KC Hall.

Mark was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and ELKS Lodge.

Mark is survived by his loving family. His wife Patricia; children Heather (Duane) Brandvold and Travis (Charlene) Schwab; grandchildren Carter (Ellie Volk) Schwab, Camden (Aubrey Erickstad) Schwab, Caleb Schwab, Callaway (Alivia) Longie, Kaden (Arianna Haraseth) Brandvold and Alex Brandvold; sister Lori Schwab; brothers Greg (Kaye) Schwab, Scot Schwab, Dirk (Shilo) Schwab; sisters-in-law Linda Eback, Sally (Chris) Erickson, Kathy (Butch) Zacher, Pam (Kevin) Swart; brothers-in-law Joe (Nancy) Eback, Tim Eback; special uncle Dennis (Judy) Schwab; aunt Katherine “Jeanne” Scoggin; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was reunited with his parents Herman and Joyce, sister Traci Schwab, nephew Andrew Schwab and in-laws Joseph and Katherine Eback.

Casket Bearers for Mark will be his Grandsons: Carter Schwab, Camden Schwab, Caleb Schwab, Callaway Longie, Kaden Brandvold and Alex Brandvold.

Gift Bearers will be Ellie Volk, Alivia Longie, Aubrey Erickstad, Arianna Haraseth and Calin Boline.
