Mark C. Shaw, 57 of rural Fort Totten ND passed away on Wednesday, July 28, 2021.
Mark Conrad Shaw, son of Vincent Shaw and Agnes Dubois was born on August 12, 1963 in California. His mother and step-father moved around quite a bit in Mark’s early years, living in California, Minnesota and South Dakota. At age 10, Mark moved to the Spirit Lake Nation to be closer to members of the Shaw family. He attended school at Fort Totten and reconnected with family and made new friends.
Mark lived and worked in the area and also worked in Grand Forks ND for a time as a welder. He and Sherry Guy were parents to Markkie Shaw and Mark Shaw Jr. After returning to the Fort Totten area, Mark continued to work as a welder, working for Spirit Lake Housing and other work for the Spirit Lake Tribe but after hours he was everyone’s mechanic. He could fix any car or truck. For the past few years, he has made his living as an auto mechanic.
Mark married Tonda Littleghost on July 1, 2016 and they made a life together, working together on their house, yard, gardening, tending flowers, beading and making their house a home inside and out. They were lovingly raising two of their grandchildren Toni Owlboy and Marquel GreyBear. Mark enjoyed rummaging and Thrift Stores and spending time with close family and friends.
Mark was a quiet, humble, private man but he always did his best to provide for his family. We will hold Mark in our hearts forever.
