Myrtle May Makaula

Myrtle May Makaula, 88, of Starkweather, ND, formally of Maui HI, passed away on April 27, 2024 in Towner County Medical Center of Cando, ND. She was born on March 29, 1936, in Hampden, ND. Myrtle was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. 

She is survived by her daughters, Dora Makaula (Roy) of Lahaina, HI, and Dawn East (Steve) of McKinney, TX. Myrtle was also cherished by her grandchildren, Roy Lanoza, Jr.,Ikaika Fernandez (Joyce), Trevor-Lee Fernandez (Debi), Lehua Lanoza (Tiare), Ridge Jacob Lanoza (Reina), Raymond Makaula-Lanoza and Dawson East. As well as her great-grandchildren, Levi and Zoey Fernandez and Sidney Morris. She is also survived by her brother Terry Wolf, and sisters Bernice Simpson and Debra Jansen (Earl), and many nieces and nephews. 

Welcoming her at the gates were parents, Everett and Dora Wolf, brother Richard Wolf, sisters Alice Kosier and Ruth Bailey, and her son Raymond Kalanipo Makaula and god-son James Kalua. Myrtle had a passion for sewing, quilting, sudoku, and crafting, which brought her joy throughout her life. She was a talented and creative individual who found solace and happiness in these activities. Myrtle's warm and caring nature endeared her to those around her, and she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

A celebration of Myrtle’s life will be held on July 20, 2024, 10:30am, at Trinity Bergen Lutheran Church in Starkweather, ND. The funeral arrangements are being handled by Gilbertson’s of Devils Lake, ND.
