Nevada Dawn Lee Rue, 21 of St. Michael, ND began her journey to the Spirit World on July 22, 2026 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND

The Wake for Nevada will be on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at St. Michael's Wellness Center beginning at 5:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave from City Plaza, Devils Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday. A Time of Prayer and Remembrance will be at 7:00 p.m.

Funeral Services for Nevada will be on Monday, August 3, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. also at St. Michael's Wellness Center. Burial will be in the HinhanKaga Hoksina Cemetery, rural St. Michael, ND.

Nevada Dawn Lee Rue was born in Devils Lake, ND on July 14, 2005, the precious daughter of Glen Rue Jr. and Leila “Chepa” Owlboy. She began her journey to the Spirit World on Thursday, July 23, 2026 at Altru Hospital, Grand Forks, ND surrounded by her loving family.

Nevada Dawn Lee grew up in the Tokio and St. Michael area of the Spirit Lake Nation. She attended Warwick Public School .

Nevada was a very bashful and quite little itty bitty while growing up. As the years passed, she grew up into her little feisty self. Nevada loved to hang with friends, cruise around and she also loved to cook.

Nevada cherished her nieces and nephews and loved to be around them. Nevada’s passion was riding horses any chance she got. She loved going for walks, looking out for clouds in the sky and was always amazed with the beauty of the sunsets. Vada always had her word search books with her. Her mom would carry them out to the wagon that was pulled by her Uncle Gary.

She was a young girl who chased sunsets on horseback, rode beneath drifting clouds, and left this world far too soon — yet her spirit still runs free in every golden sky.

Nevada is survived by her loving family. Her mother Chepa Owlboy; brother Adam Rue; sisters Glenna Rue, Virginia Owlboy, Leslie Ann Fawcett and Marie Owlboy; nephews and nieces Aziah Glen, Richard Jr., Lillyann, Isabelle, Allen, Shileigh, Avery, DJ and Dru; aunts ands uncles Cheryl Belgarde, Bonnie Owlboy, Lisa Owlboy, Maryann Rue, Peter Owlboy Sr., Francis Owlboy Jr., Lormen Owlboy Sr., Elton Demarce, Gary Owlboy, Al Laducer, Duane Rue and Mark Rue; many, many dear cousins too numerous too mention, but so very special to Dawn.

She was preceded in death by her father Glen Rue Jr.; grandparents Francis Owlboy Sr. and Lillie (Belgarde) Owlboy, Glen Rue Sr., aunt and uncles Monica Owlboy, Alvin Owlboy Sr., Lonnie Owlboy, cousins Kami Birdhorse, Melinda Whiteman, Delia Whiteman, Brittany Whiteshield, Felicia Owlboy and many other beloved relatives.
