Peter was born July 30, 1927 in Brocket to Henry and Ragnhild (Lilleengen) Brown. He was raised on the family farm at Brocket with his brother Clifford and enlisted in the Army at the age of 18. He was severely injured in World War II in the Philippine Islands. After 2 years of hospitalization and rehabilitation, he returned home to continue his recovery.
He started his own trucking company and helped his father and neighbors with farming. On June 8, 1951, he married Edith Kolden in Crary, ND. They moved to the family farm in Brocket where Rita and Helen were born. They later purchased their own farm close to the family farm where Kathy, Henry and Robert were born. He continued to farm but was also employed by Dakota Fence, Nordic Fiberglass and Petersburg Mfg during winter months.
In 1976 he, Edith and Robert moved to Underwood where he was employed by UPA at the Falkirk Mine. Following retirement from there, they moved to Devils Lake in 1986 and he continued to farm for his nephew in Brocket up until a few years ago. Ever since he was a child, farming was in his blood and the passion for farming lasted until his death.
Survivors include his children Rita (Jack) Volk of Devils Lake, Helen Carlson of Devils Lake, Kathy Whitman of Beulah, Henry (Joyce) Brown of Dickinson, and Robert Brown of Las Vegas; 8 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and 3 great great grandchildren.
