Renee Lynn Sorenson, 60 of Devils Lake ND passed away on Saturday, February 24, 2024 at the Lakota Good Samaritan Center.

Renee Lynn was born on November 17, 1963 at Devils Lake, ND the precious daughter of Gywene Myers. She was a baptized and confirmed member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in Leeds. She grew up in Leeds, North Dakota, attending Leeds Public School. Renee graduated in 1981 from Rugby High School. 

After high school, Renee moved to Devils Lake where she lived and worked through the years. She met and later married her sweetheart Daniel Sorenson on September 9, 2009 in Bullhead City, Arizona. They both worked at the Riverside Casino in Laughlin, Nevada for many years. Daniel died on March 8, 2023. After Daniel’s death, Renee moved back to North Dakota to be closer to family. 

In her younger years, Renee was very active in the Leeds 4-H program. She represented Benson County at the Minot State Fair Style Show competition and was the recipient of the Benson County 4-H Grand Champion Heifer Award. Beating out her brother who also showed a heifer that year.  She was an avid animal lover her whole life. 

Renee faced many physical challenges in her short life here, but she faced them with courage, strength and a true faith in the promises of her Lord. She always had a bright disposition, a friendly smile and was always that ray of sunshine to friends and family in the most difficult situations. 

Renee will be so deeply missed, loved and cherished by her children Joshua and Lynn; mother Gywene Owens, many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her step-father Cecil Owens, husband Daniel, brother Terry Myers and her grandparents.
