Robert (Bob) Dean Schumacker, son of Roger and Marlene (Mitzel) Schumacker, was born on April 18th, 1970, in Minnehaha County, South Dakota. Bob graduated from Balta High School in 1988 and went on to attend college at Wahpeton where he studied mechanics, and then continued his education for one more year at Bemidji for machinist. Following college Bob moved to Devils Lake and started working at Carquest. He went on to work at Halverson’s Motor Sports, Allen’s Auto Sales, and in October 2015 he opened his own business “Bob’s Truck Accessories, Body Shop & Auto Sales”.

Bob met the love of his life, Tami Lassig, in February 2001 at Allen’s Auto Sales when Tami went to test drive a car, they started dating in June 2001.  Bob told people in the first weeks of dating Tami that he knew he would marry her; Tami also told people in the first weeks of dating Bob she would marry him.  On May 7, 2002, their beautiful daughter, Hope, was born to join them at home with her big brother Andrew Reiter.  Bob and Tami were united in marriage on September 18, 2004, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Devils Lake. The couple made their home in Devils Lake and raised their two children, Andrew Reiter and Hope. Bob loved his wife, children, and fur babies Mya and Max more than anything.  Bob and Tami had endless love for each other.

Bob was cherished by so many and was a wonderful husband, dad, brother, brother – in – law, nephew, and friend to many.

Bob loved his family with all of his heart, they meant the world to him.  Bob was one who would make you feel welcomed when you were around him. He would always have a story to share. He left an impression on everyone he encountered. He had many talents and interests throughout his lifetime.  He was a go getter and had the motto “go big or go home”.  He lived for his family, racing, and was no stranger to hard work, maybe that came from being with Grandpa Fred on the farm all those years. Bob enjoyed racing which he did for years, he was also known as the “crew chief” for all of his racing friends when they needed anything done on their cars. Bob always took pride in working on the cars and always wanted to win the race. He was known as “Stick”. Bob also loved Nascar and snowmobiling.  Bob helped anyone who needed it. He could fix anything or put anything together. He was a jack of all trades. He loved the Devils Run and participated in the burn outs, winning first place many times. He always told people his wife and kids were the best thing that ever happened to him. He always told his kids they could do anything they set their mind to and encouraged them every step of the way.
