9-02-1965 - 1-11-2026

Robert “Roudie" Wayne IronHawk Sr. “Rockin Roudie” 9-02-1965 - 1-11-2026 Roudie Wayne IronHawk Sr. of Fort Totten ND began his final journey to the Spirit World on January 11, 2026 at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND with his brother and sisters by his side. Roudie is the son of Elizabeth Lawrence and the late Benedict IronHawk Sr, born in Devils Lake on September 2nd of 1965. He was raised in the St. Michael district rural Tokio. He lost his father at a young age and became a stepson to the late Isaac Mallard and stepbrother to the late Raymond Mallard.

In his younger years he had many buddies and cousins to hang with, especially his brothers. He always spoke of the old times. He went to the Little Flower Mission School in St. Michael, then later went to the Fort Totten School. He earned his GED at the Trapper Creek Job Corp in Montana.

In 1984 he met Ranae St. John and later they welcomed their first born and name sake Robert Wayne IronHawk Jr. and then 5 more children followed. He moved from the reservation to Devils Lake ND to raise his 6 kids and settled in a small home.

He loved to work on cars with his brothers and cousins and buddies all day or beading and making dream catchers or doing woodworking to pass time when his kids were at school. He always took long walks with his kids and dogs, told stories of the old days with his friends and siblings and how his mother would have to get after him for being wild. He enjoyed watching old movies, especially Westerns.

He worked for Sioux Manufacturing Corporation and DTI in Fort Totten for many years. He moved to Fargo ND to work construction with his former brother-in-law Ted Schafer and his oldest son Robert. Roudie did car deliveries with his nephew the late Michael Onebear Jr.

Roudie would always travel with his kids to visit his siblings and cousins and buddies. He loved fishing with his sons and nephews. In his younger years, his nickname was “Gambles” after the store called Gambles. He told his buddies it was his store. In his teenage years he became known as “Rockin Roudie,” as his straightforward and no-nonsense attitude and wild personality really shone through.

He had a life well spent with laughter, tears, and pain, especially when he lost his beloved brothers and sister. Though life got tough he tried his best to stand strong for himself and for his family. He instilled honesty and straight no-nonsense abilities to his children and the need to be honest and straight forward. Though alcohol got the best of him we have the memories of his fight to come out of it. And the good memories of him being a son, brother, father, and uncle.

He is survived by his mother Elizabeth Lawrence; brother Jason Ironhawk; sisters Bessie, Darlys, Sharlene and Darcie (Roerick) Ironhawk; uncle Josey (Clarice) Lawrence; cousin Esther IronHawk; his children Robert Wayne IronHawk Jr, Cody Allan IronHawk, Mercede Marie Paul, Elizabeth Ann Ironhawk, Ashley Rae IronHawk, Ty River IronHawk; godson Trajan Javante OneBear; He had many grandkids, he was proud when his oldest boys welcomed Talon Benedict IronHawk and Karen Marie IronHawk. More came in the later years of his life. He was a proud uncle to many, many, nieces, and nephews. He was proud to see his father's legacy spread out…. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Andrew and Annie (Greywind) IronHawk and Henry and Lillie (Mybebe) Lawrence; father Benedict IronHawk; step father Isaac Mallard; step brother Raymond Mallard; aunts Celina IronHawk, Bertha (IronHawk) Demarce, Frances( Lawrence) Ross; uncle Jonas IronHawk; sister Bernardine (IronHawk) Littlewind; brothers Benedict Jr., Dwayne, Marvin, Roger, and Myron IronHawk; nephews Rocky Littlewind, Michael OneBear Jr., Darnell IronHawk; nieces Talayah Brown, Lashawn IronHawk, Cherelle SwiftHawk, Tenerrie SwiftHawk; grandson Allan John IronHawk.
