April 17, 1976 – February 26, 2026
Robert Walter Richotte Sr., born on April 17, 1976, in Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake ND, the son of Amelia “Pokey” Richotte and Leonard Richotte entered the after life on Thursday, February 26, 2026, in Fargo, ND.
Robert was raised by his mother Amelia and stepdad Arthur Martin. He grew up in the St. Michael area of the Spirit Lake Nation. He attended school at St. Michael, Circle of Nations School in Wahpeton, and Four Winds in Fort Totten ND.
Robert was united in marriage to Christine Bear on June 7, 2007. They made their home on the Spirit Lake Nation where they lived and worked and raised their family. Krissy passed away on June 2, 2020.
Robert worked for a time at Simplot and as a Wildlife Firefighter. He worked in a variety of positions at the Spirit Lake Casino and Resort for many years. After moving to Fargo in the early 2020’s he worked for Capitol Express as courier. He truly enjoyed this job and was proud to be a part of it, as he was a courier for the medical aspect of the Express business.
In Robert’s spare time, he enjoyed working on cars, and going to concerts any time he had the chance to go. (Heavy metal, Rock N Roll)
But Robert’s most treasured and memorable moments were spent with his dear family, his children, his 15 grandchildren whom he loved with all his heart, his siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Time spent together as family, were always fun times, happy times, good times enjoyed by all.
Robert is survived by his children Karissa, Lichelle, Todd, Aiana, Trinity, Arthur, and Robert Jr.; 15 precious grandchildren; sisters Tina Hulst, Corrina Sogge, Marie Richotte, and Lisa Charles; brothers Robert Hulst and Murle Richotte; god daughter Kimberly Williams; many dear aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. All very special to Robert.
He was reunited with his mother Amelia, stepdad Arthur, father Leonard, grandparents Mabel (Dance Eagle) and Clarence Cavanaugh, son Raymond Joseph Richotte, wife Christine “Krissy” Dawn Richotte, sister Amelia Hulst, brother Raymond Joseph Richotte, and other cherished relatives.
Pallbearers will be Arthur Richotte, Robert Richotte Jr., Martin Hulst, William “Doogie” Richotte-St. Pierre, Kuda Old Rock, Cody Devold, Chris Garnet, and Benny Cudmore.
Honorary Bearers will be All of Robert’s Loving Family and Many Friends.

The Wake for Robert will be on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the Tekakwitha Center, St. Michael, ND beginning at 5:00 p.m. with a time of Prayer and Remembrance at 7:00 p.m. The procession to St. Michael will leave at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
Funeral Services will be on Friday, March 6, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Paul Schuster officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery at a later date.
