Ronald Roy Waldo, son of Elton and Clara (Ness) Waldo was born on August 2, 1937 on the family farm in Colvin Township, Eddy County, near Hamar, ND. He grew up on the farm, attending the Colvin Township Country School and later attending Tolna Public School.  Ron was never scared of hard work and at a young age began working for several area farmers.

Ron was united in marriage to Lorene K. Papachek on March 13, 1956 at New Rockford, ND. They lived for a time in Warwick then moved to Montana where Ron broke horses in Big Sky and worked on the ground crew for Northwest Airlines in Billings. Eventually North Dakota called them back home to the Warwick area and Ron worked for many years as a heavy equipment operator for Hulstrand Construction along with a farming and ranching operation of his own.  Ron and Lorene moved into Warwick but Ron never gave up his love for the farm and made daily trips there until his death.

Ron had a passion for farming and his many talents were greatly needed and appreciated by other farmers. He was a self-taught welder and actually built his own automated hay truck and did custom hay hauling for many years.  He loved to work but enjoyed several hobbies too.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and his Ham Radio connections.  Ron always had cattle and horses on the farm and actually used a team of horses one whole winter for chores. Those tough, rugged hands even learned to play the guitar.

Ron served his community as a member of the Minco Township and Warwick Township Boards. He was a member of the Warwick Rod and Gun Club, New Rockford Circle Trail Riders and the Warwick Lutheran Church. When his boys were growing up he started the Warwick Babe Ruth Baseball Team.

Ron loved his community, his neighbors, his family and many dear friends. He was proud of his boys and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were his pride and joy.

Ron is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law Steven and Lynn Waldo, Warwick, Loren and Tanya Waldo, Gary, MN and Alan Waldo, New Rockford, ND; grandchildren Adam (Betsy) Waldo, Laura (ben) Walter and Krista Waldo, Ryan Waldo, Jesse (Elizabeth) Waldo and Brandi Waldo; great grandchildren Livia, Elijah and Matthew Walter, Isaiah and Petra Waldo; brother-in-law Donnie Papachek, Fargo, ND; sisters-in-law Pam Waldo, Billings, MT and Bonnie Papchek, Warwick; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Lorene on August 22, 2015; brothers Marvin, Wendall and Darrell Waldo.

Honorary Bearers will be all of Ron’s family and friends.
