Rose (Schiele) Senger died peacefully surrounded by family at Hospice House in Fargo, ND on April 4, 2024.

She was born May 20, 1932 to Phillip and Emelia (Tuchsherer) Schiele in Devils Lake, ND. She lived on a farm east of Webster with her family and attended Cato Township School until leaving for the big city of Devils Lake, ND, where she attended St Mary’s her junior and senior year. During this time, she enjoyed roller skating at the Memorial building and attending barn dances. This is where her love of dancing started.

She had a passion for teaching and attained her teaching certificate after two months of training at Minot State College. She then taught in a one room school house for 2 years before uniting in marriage with Tim Senger on Sept 23, 1952. This union resulted in 9 children. Rose spent the next many years working beside her husband to raise their children and manage the farm.

She created a harmonious and organized home. Rose learned how to multitask early on. She would pray with the children while waiting for the school bus and anytime they were in the car. This taught faith, but also, left no room for arguing.

She and Tim enjoyed many types of dancing: square dancing, polka, 2 step, etc.  They truly became one on the dance floor and were a treasure to watch. Rose was happiest dancing in the arms of Tim. The chicken dance brought her and us many laughs.

Her education was put to good use teaching religious education for 30 years. She was also active in Christian Mothers, attended various bible studies and the Cancer support Group. She volunteered for Teens Encounter Christ, Marriage Encounter, Right to Life, and Engaged couples Weekend Retreat.  She received such joy helping others.

Rose had a gift of compassion and hospitality, and was a natural chaplain. She was often seen bringing baked goods, along with an uplifting note, to those needing a bit of support. Her china never needed dusting. As soon as she noticed someone coming up the walk or driveway, she was looking for something to serve them.

Rose often stated one of the things that brought her great joy was seeing her children having fun spending time together. She so enjoyed seeing the grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Rose faced significant health challenges with grace. The loss of most of her hearing and sight did not stop her from reaching out to others. She was so excited to learn how to text, Facetime, and do Facebook, as this allowed her to communicate with so many.  Shortly after losing most of her vision, she was standing in church singing “Silent Night” with her hearing device in one hand and a magnifying glass in the other.

Some favorite memories of her children and grandchildren include: hearing her sing as she hung clothes on the line; the fresh bread and caramel rolls when getting home from school; her love of snuggling and big hugs; her excitement to have you visit, knowing she would have your favorite foods ready, her love of babies, her appreciative and thankful nature, watching her dance with dad, and most significant – her faith and ability to forgive and show compassion. A true gift.

Her faith was lived and shown by example. She faced many adversities but never lost her faith. She showed strong perseverance through such loss. Rose and Tim were one in praying through the trouble. They always felt they were extremely blessed, but they were the ones who blessed us.

Survived by: 9 children: John (Maggie) – San Antonio, TX; Dave (Karen) Senger – Minneapolis, MN; Cheri (Senger)Carrier – Minneapolis MN;  Donna (Senger) Langton, Bismarck, ND; Karen (Joe) Harder, Fargo, ND; Terri (Mark) Brenner, Fargo, ND; Rick (Joanne) Senger, Minneapolis, MN; Beth (Ken)   Kocher-Naples, Florida; Cory (Monica) Senger, Indianapolis, IN; 23 grandchildren; 15 Great grandchildren; siblings Jim Schiele, and Kathy (Schiele) Kirkeby.

Preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and siblings : Phillip Schiele, Mary Ellen (Schiele) Martin, Don Schiele, Agnes (Schiele) Nelson.
