Steven proudly served his country, enlisting in the United States Marine Corps on June 13, 1968. He was honorably discharged with the rank of Sargeant on June 6, 1972.

Steven returned to Oberon and was united in marriage to his precious Jean Jetty. They lived, worked and raised their family in the Oberon area.

Steven worked as a police officer in Langdon and Edmore for a short time, then started a career at the Oberon Elevator. He was employed there for 26 years. Retirement wasn’t in his nature so he went to work as a Housekeeping Supervisor at the Spirit Lake Casino, working there for 14 years then retiring.  Steven made many friends wherever he worked. The customers loved him and he so enjoyed visiting with them.  In his years in Oberon, Steven also owned and operated the Oberon Bar.

He was a devoted husband and Dad and loved spending time with Jean and Steven until their deaths. He loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. He was an avid fan of the Miami Dolphins too.

For the past two and a half years, Steven has made his home in Starkweather, ND

Steven was a loving husband, Dad and grandpa and will be dearly missed by his family and many friends he made along life’s journey.

He is survived by his son Tony Eback of Oberon and daughter Wanda Littleghost of Starkweather, ND; grandchildren Marcel Mitzel, Drew Mitzel, Naomi Smith and Violet Eback, sisters Ramona Wick and Louise Demarce and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
