Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Tuesday, July 2nd from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a time of prayer and remembrance at 7:00 p.m.  His friend and fellow soldier, Justin Smith will lead the service.  Visitation on Wednesday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Tyler Allen, son of Jeffrey and Diane (Johnson) Halverson was born on February 9, 1985 in Devils Lake, ND. He attended Minnie H Elementary School, Central Middle School and graduated from Devils Lake High School with the class of 2003.  He participated in the many activities of the school including football and wrestling, qualifying for the State Wrestling Tournament.  He participated in JROTC and after graduating he enlisted in the North Dakota National Guard.

He completed AIT training in October of 2003 and in December was deployed to Iraq serving with the Alpha Co.-141. After returning from Iraq he continued service at the Warrior Training Center in Fort Benning, Georgia until 2007 when he was again deployed to Iraq, this time serving with the 817th Sapper Unit Division.   After his second deployment he would return to the Warrior Training Center as an instructor.  He received Military Training in Air Assault, Airborne, Pathfinder Rappel Master and Jump Master and also served as an instructor in these areas of training.

In 2011, Tyler was serving with the Oklahoma National Guard and was deployed to Afghanistan with the 3rd Platoon, Company A-179th Infantry. Tyler was honorably discharged on May 11, 2012 with the rank of Sergeant.

Tyler returned to Devils Lake and worked with his Dad at Halverson Motor Sports until moving to Bismarck where he was presently employed with Interstate.

Tyler loved the outdoors; deer hunting and pheasant hunting with his dog, Sophie, long range shooting and he enjoyed snowmobiles and snowmobile racing competition with his brother at a young age. He could build rifles and did reloading as a hobby.

Tyler’s passion was to serve his country and he did under Operation Iraqi Freedom, Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom 11/12. He served with honor and was the recipient of many commendations and medals.  The demands of deployments and sacrifices necessary to be a good soldier caused body, mind and soul to be challenged.  Tyler faced these challenges the best he could, always knowing he had the love and support of his family, friends and comrades.

Tyler is survived by his loving family. His parents Jeff and Diane of Devils Lake; brother Jason and his wife Monica also of Devils Lake; grandmother Dorothy Johnson, Devils Lake; fiancé Amanda Sager and her children Glenn and Abrianna of Bismarck; nieces and nephews Collyns Halverson, Chris (Meghan) Heustis, Ashleigh (Sarah) Heustis, Brady Heustis and great nephew Maxium Heustis; best friend and service dog Sophie; Several beloved aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his niece Jayleigh Halverson; grandparents Delbert Johnson, Glenn and Norma Halverson; god-father Ron Johnson.
