Vera Jean (Glover) Hoffman went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 19, 2025, at Eventide Long Term Care Center, Devils Lake, North Dakota at the age of 88.

Vera Jean (Glover) Hoffman was born May 19, 1937. The oldest of 5 children, of Ted and Vera Joy (Sydenham) Glover at their home in Broken Bow, Nebraska.

She attended several one room country schools before graduating 8th grade from the Cherry Vale school district. She started high school in Broken Bow but graduated in 1955 at Loup County High, Taylor, Nebraska. She then attended Grace Bible Institute and Immanuel School of Nursing in Omaha, Nebraska, graduating in 1959.

During senior year of nurses training she met the brother of her classmate, Elvira Hoffman. She married Arlo Hoffman in the fall of 1959. They then moved to North Dakota in the spring of 1960. They returned to Omaha for the winter of 1961 where their son, Greg was born.

Her Christian life was shaped by attending numerous country churches as a youngster. She accepted Jesus as her personal savior while attending a Vacation Bible School, and was baptized in the Middle Loup River.

Jean was a typical farm wife, helping when needed. She especially enjoyed driving the combine during harvest time. She worked several years at Mercy Hospital in Devils Lake, North Dakota in their intensive care unit.

Hobbies included gardening, crocheting, quilting, reading, and baking. Her grandsons said that her bread buns were the best! She was a member of Salem Bible Church in Munich, serving on several committees, teaching Sunday School, and helping with the church library.

Jean is survived by her husband Arlo Hoffman; son Greg (Valerie) Hoffman; grandsons Brandon (Mary) Hoffman and Garret Hoffman; 3 great-grandsons Noah, Nathan and Owen; sister Cherry Thompson, brother Ken (Karen) Glover and sister-in-law Diane Glover.

Preceded in death by her parents, brothers Richard Glover and John (Lois) Glover and brother-in-law Bill Thompson.

Funeral Services for Jean will be held on Thursday, September 25, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Salem Bible Church, Munich ND with Pastor Don Barsness officiating. Burial will be in the South Salem Cemetery following the service with a time of fellowship in the church dining hall. Memorials may be directed to the FaHoCha Bible Camp in memory of Jean.
