Vivian A. Asleson

Vivian A. Asleson, 82 of Devils Lake Nd passed away on Friday, July 1, 2022, at Altru Hospital in Grand Forks, ND.

Vivian Ardell, daughter of Henry and Martha (Madison) Bartholme was born on February 2, 1940, at Devils Lake ND. She grew up here and attended Devils Lake Public School. She called the Lake Region her home her entire life.

Vivian was united in marriage to Wesley Asleson Sr. on November 15, 1958. They established their home in rural Devils Lake and for many years lived at Lakewood. First and foremost, Vivian was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She always put family first. As the children grew up, she did work at “The Barrel,” Happy Joe’s, Hardee’s, Leever’s Deli and at Camp Grafton.

She was an excellent cook and baker. She always made sure everyone got their favorites when they came to visit and Scotcheroos were always on the menu. Vivian had her favorites too which were Veggie Bars, BLT’s, and fried potatoes. She was an avid collector of many different figurines including Precious Moments and Angels to name a few. She thoroughly enjoyed bowling and was a member of a women’s and a mixed league for many years. When just relaxing, you would find Vivian doing Word Search Puzzles and listening to Brooks and Dunn and other country music stars.

Oh, how Vivian loved being a grandma! Her grandbabies meant the world to her. They brought her so much joy. She was an animal lover and had several cats and dogs over the years and now her animal companions were Hailey and Pauley.

Vivian will be in our hearts forever and forever missed by her children, grandchildren, sister, and other dear family, friends, and those whose lives she touched in a very special way.

Vivian’s loving family include her children Cindy Asleson, Devils Lake, Wesley (Evangeline) Asleson, Las Vegas, NV, Scott (Cherrie) Asleson, Brooks, MN, and Jennifer (Brenden) Laugsand, St. Michael ND; grandchildren Vanaley Asleson, Mariah (Dillon) Loper, Kasen Laugsand and Koben Laugsand; sister Phyllis Heilman and many nieces, nephews, and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Wes on March 26, 2017, brothers Harvey Bartholme and Henry Bartholme, sisters Marie Bartholme and Delores Rader.

Visitation will be held at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Services for Vivian will be on Thursday,       July 7, 2022 at 10:30 a.m. with Reverend Mr. Ken Severinson officiating and burial in the Devils Lake Cemetery.
