Marion A. Halvorson - Kurtz, of Devils Lake, ND passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at Eventide at Hi-Acres, Jamestown, ND. She was 83 years old. Please join us on Friday, May 3, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at St Olaf Lutheran Church, in Devils Lake, to celebrate Marion A. Halvorson - Kurtz’s Spirit. Marion was Helmer and Audrey Halvorson’s eldest child, born August 28, 1929 at her Grandparents farm. Marion left her beloved family farm, in Ramsey County, to attend Trinity Nursing College in Minot. She graduated her Mother and Aunt Alma's Alma Mater 1951. Nursing was always a mainstay in her life. Marion was known for her kind, gentle, loving care as a Registered Nurse. She worked in many areas of nursing including surgery, private duty nursing, pharmacy, teaching and her most favorite, obstetrics. Marion helped many souls enter and depart from this world. Gardening became one of Marion’s creative outlets. On numerous occasions she was awarded “Garden Of The Month”. She enjoyed Singing, Painting, and Quilting. She appreciated Music, Theater and the Finer Things In Life. She was an avid reader throughout most of her life. Marion loved people, the Lord and His teachings. Marion married Balzer Kurtz in 1953. She very quickly became the mother of six children. Jeanne Foss (Tony Foss) of Mesa, Az, Julie Horneblow of Riverside Ca., Aviyah Kurtz of Seattle, Wa, Joel Kurtz , deceased ; Jill Sande, Mesa, Az, Jennifer Smith, Kalispell, Mont. Marion is survived by 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, sisters, Sandra Bartle and Lois LaBissoniere both of Queen Creek, AZ and Vivian Peterson, Washington State; brother, Roger Halvorson also of Washington State; several nieces and nephews and their children. Marion was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Balzer on October 21, 2008; son Joel on January 16, 2013; brothers, David and Richard Halvorson
