Carmen M. Ralston

Carmen Marie (Marcellais) Ralston, daughter of Clarence J. and Avalon “Happy” (Pulliam) Marcellais was born August 25th, 1957 and passed peacefully at home on Thursday, June 25th, 2020. She grew up in Belcourt and graduated from Belcourt High School. 

She was married on August 8th, 1990 to the love of her life, Richard Alan Ralston.  They were blessed with a daughter, Angeline Rose Ralston on March 5th, 1991.  The arrival of their granddaughters Lacey Marie and Lexi Rose Ralston made their life complete.  Carmen was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.

Carmen loved working as a switchboard operator at Belcourt Hospital. She also worked at REM Company and Sioux Manufacturing. 

Carmen loved children, especially her nephews and nieces who remember their Auntie by her loving statements: Honey Honey Love Love, Abaen Boogee (Oh my little mischievous one), Moopchi’ Donnie (My little bugger) and Moopchi’ Baby (My little baby). She enjoyed listening to music, especially her cousins Roland Country and crocheting.  She loved meals and entertainment at the local casino.  She looked forward to watching football with Richard and his uncle Art Schlieve, which was a special time of excitement and laughter.   Carmen also enjoyed camping and fishing with her family.

Carmen is survived by her husband Richard, daughter Angeline and her grandchildren Lacey and Lexi, mother-in-law Hazel Ralston, six sisters Cheryl (Marion) Kulas, Holly Marion, Maxine (Otis) (Marion Burrell, Michelle (Marion) Thunderhawk,, Clarissa (Marcellais) Sherman and Charlotte Marcellais, three brothers C.J., Cameron and Cornell Marcellais and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Avalon Marcellais, sister Betty (Marion-Enno) LaVallie, brother Charles Dean Marcellais, father-in-law Gerald Ralston and her god parents Oliver and Sara Jetty.
