Dale B. Miller

September 1, 1954 — August 6, 2018

Dale B. Miller

It is with great sadness that the family of Dale Bruce Miller of Crary, ND announce his passing on August 6, 2018 in Rochester, MN. Dale was surrounded by his family and loved dearly.  Dale came into this world on September 1, 1954 as the youngest son of Harold and Inez Miller in Jamestown, ND.  He grew up in Enderlin, ND and graduated high school in 1972.  He then went on to Devils Lake Junior College and graduated in 1974.  He married and had two sons Drew and Dustin.

Dale went on to meet the love of his life Connie. They have spent many years building their life together.  Including spending countless hours fishing, hunting, and camping together.

Dale was a welder for many years. He worked at various employers including 30 years at Steiger/CNH and 10 years at Summers Manufacturing.  He retired from Devils Lake Public Schools in 2016.

Dale was the Babe Ruth coach in Horace, ND for many years. He was always happy to teach the youth new skills no matter what sport.  Drew has many fond memories of having to take a lap or three at baseball practice for throwing his bat.

Dale was an avid hunter and had many fishing stories to share with everyone. He was always happy and ready to teach his grandchildren how to fish, shoot bow, and hunt ducks with his dog Reba.  Dale accomplished teaching his grandchildren how to tie a fishing knot while he was in the hospital.  His famous saying while raising his sons was “Time to Learn”.

Dale was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan and has passed his bad habit on to his grandson Michael. Dale could make just about anything with PVC pipe, zip ties, and duct tape.

Dale had many true friends throughout his life. He always made new friends wherever he went including the last 6 months that he spent at the Gift of Life in Rochester, MN.  They have now discontinued serving coffee because no one can make it like Dale.

Dale’s journey at Gift of Life was made possible by having Connie by his side every single day. She has been his rock and biggest cheerleader.  He fondly called her Honey and for a while no one knew her real name.

As a remembrance to Dale buy a thermometer and hang it in your home. You can never trust those digital ones.  Also, take the time to teach someone a new skill and make the most of every day.

Dale is survived by the Love of His Life Connie Evans; Son Drew (Tina) and their boys Michael and Wyatt; Son Dustin and his boys Devin and Dylan; Sister Ronda (Duane) Skramstad, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins and his beloved dog Reba.

Dale was proceeded in death by his parents Harold and Inez Miller; Siblings Larry Miller and Nancy Ganyo; Sister-in-Law Ginger Miller; Niece Karen Skramstad and Great Nephew Dominick Skramstad.

A very special thank you to everyone that made their trip to Rochester possible. Especially all the loving care of his best friend Reba.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Gilbertson Funeral Home in Devils Lake, ND on August 18, 2018 at 1:00 pm as a time to share stories from friends and family followed by a Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Jimmy Harris officiating.  Honorary Bearers will be all of Dale's many good friends and his grandchildren Michael and Wyatt.
